| Help the democrats, and help America stay free and democratic, and help Holmes County become a happy, prosperous, and secure place to live and work. The Holmes County Democratic Party is a political organization extension of the Florida Democratic Party (FDP) which is an organization defined by Florida statutes that operates within the Democratic National Committee (DNC). It's purpose is to represent the interests of the FDP and the DNC, and the political interests of the people of Holmes County to the DNC. The membership of this management of this organization consists of a committeeman and committeewoman from each voter precinct in the County, and a number of at-large committeemen and committeewomen as may be appointed from time to time by the Chairman (Chairwoman) of the party. Each committeeman and committeewoman is elected in the democratic primary every four years during the presidential election, and serve for four years, until the next election, just as other elected officials of our county. They represent the interests of the Democratic Party to the people of Holmes County, and aid democratic federal, state, district, and city and county candidates for public office in any way possible. A binding oath of allegience to the democratic party is required of all comitteepersons so the voters can be assured they represent the party to the voters faithfully and accurately. You can help the people by running for one of these committee seats in your precinct and becoming active in the affairs of the Democrats in Holmes County. Once you have been elected to the position of committeeman or committeewoman of your precinct, you may then seek the Chairmanship of the party, the position of Vice-chair or Secretary-treasurer or State Committeeman or State Committeewoman, or chairperson of various commitees within the party. If you want to help your County, this is a good place to start. Our County has many problems to solve, and the real Holmes County Democratic Party members will always be looking for and trying to implement the best solutions. To run for Democratic Committeeman or Committeewoman, you must be a registered democrat and declare your candidacy to the Supervisor of Elections in July during a presidential election year and sign the Democratic Party loyalty oath. If more than one person qualifies for the post that you want your names will be placed on the ballot for the Democratic primary and the democratic voters will elect one of you. If no one opposes you in this election you will get the office, and your name will not appear on a ballot. You will be installed in the office in December following the election. return to home page political education site by we the people Contact us |
